Juliane started her career as a fashion designer in Hamburg, Germany before spells in Philadelphia and New York in the USA.  Juliane relocated to Manchester in 2016 where she began to build her SEO experience while working for leading fashion companies, with a focus on German and European markets.

Joining Wavemaker in 2019, she now works with multiple clients to develop SEO strategies to grow our clients organic performance.

How did you get in to digital marketing?

My first love was fashion design, but over the years I became more involved in the business side of the industry and was excited by the importance of digital marketing strategies and SEO. As I began to develop my SEO knowledge I realised my passion for digital marketing had grown beyond a focus on any one industry, and Wavemaker provided the perfect opportunity to develop my SEO skills in a supportive and fun environment.

What is a typical day like for you?

I live in Ancoats and love city centre living! It takes me about 30 min to walk to the office which is the perfect start for me. Once I arrive I need my morning coffee (no tea!) to get started, haha!

For me no day is the same. I work across multiple clients and pick up new work on assigned projects as they come in. All our clients have needs unique to their industries, and I really enjoy the variety and finding different ways to help our clients succeed.

What piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out in the industry?

Ask a lot of questions, listen and be open. Pick an area you love, become an expert and own it. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, you will be stronger for it.

Who would be your dream client?

My background is in fashion and so I am used to working in a “trend”-driven and fast paced industry. I would love to work with some designer ecommerce sites, such as interior design or other creatives with an international market.

What is your proudest career moment to date?

Five years ago I had no SEO experience. Now I’m really proud when my ideas and hard work pays off and I can see our clients grow.

Describe yourself in three words

Loyal, Determined, Mischievous

What do you like most about working at Wavemaker?

The people: I’ve worked in a lot of companies across different countries and industries, and I never felt such a genuine team culture before. Everyone was super welcoming and interested from day one. I’ll never forget that on my first day Mick (our CEO) came to my desk to introduce himself in person – I think this is quite unusual and obviously made a big impression on me. I love how driven the people at Wavemaker are and how new insights, technologies and knowledge get shared with everyone. Training and development are very important to me to continue to build my expertise, and it is good to see that personal growth is actively promoted and supported by my employer.
